Abstract

Diplomski rad istražuje povijesni razvoj i utjecaj religije na žanr znanstvene fantastike. Prvi dio rada obrađuje povijesni sadržaj i temelje znanstvene fantastike. Iako je teško precizno odrediti početke ovoga žanra, rad se osvrće na njegove korijene koji sežu do najranijih civilizacija, kada su se počele pojavljivati prve priče s elementima znanstvene fantastike.
Nadalje, rad se fokusira na pojmovno određenje znanstvene fantastike i njezinih ključnih elemenata i tehnika. Jednako se tako proučavaju kriteriji kojima se definira žanr, uključujući potrebu za znanstvenom točnošću i realističnim prikazom znanstvenih koncepata. Poseban naglasak stavlja se na djelovanje eminentnih autora, napose H.G. Wellsa i F. Herberta, koji su koristili svoju maštu za kreiranje inovativnih priča koje su inspirirale kasnije generacije pisaca i filmaša.
Završni dio rada obrađuje fenomen NLO-a i religijskih zajednica inspiriranih znanstvenom fantastikom. Analizira se kako su ove zajednice oblikovale svoje vjerske prakse i uvjerenja koristeći motive i narative iz znanstvene fantastike te kako su takva vjerovanja utjecala na šire društvene i kulturne kontekste.

Abstract (english)

This work examines the historical development and influence of religion on the genre of science fiction. The first part of the work deals with the historical content and foundations of science fiction. Although it is difficult to pinpoint the beginnings of this genre, the work looks back at its roots, which go back to the earliest civilizations when the first stories with elements of science fiction appeared. Furthermore, the work focuses on the conceptual definition of science fiction and its main elements and techniques. The criteria used to define the genre are also examined, including the need for scientific accuracy and realistic portrayal of scientific concepts. Particular attention is paid to the work of significant authors, especially H.G. Wells and F. Herbert, who used their imaginations to create innovative stories that inspired later generations of writers and filmmakers. The last part of the work deals with the phenomenon of UFOs and the religious communities inspired by science fiction. It analyzes how these communities have shaped their religious practices and beliefs using motifs and narratives from science fiction and how these beliefs have influenced the wider social and cultural context.
