Abstract

Cilj je rada analiza fenomena sotonizma koji se prati kronološki kako bi se što jasnije prikazala različita mišljenja i stajališta nastala na ovu temu. Opće je poznato razdoblje srednjega vijeka obilježenog suđenjima vješticama i inkvizicijom, odnosno pojavom i utjecajem čarobnjaštva i okultizma zbog kojega su mnogi osuđeni na smrt. Sadržaj rada usmjeren je sažetom prikazu mišljenja i konkretnih elemenata kojima se mijenjala percepcija o Sotoni, ali i predodžba o sotonistima. Poseban je naglasak stavljen na vrijeme promjene koje je nastupilo romanticizmom i istupima mnoštva književnika, većinom engleskoga govornoga područja, te filozofa koji su u ono vrijeme zagovarali uvjerenja i stajališta u bitnome različita od dotadašnje prihvaćenih. U konačnici rad predstavlja život i djelo poznatih autora koji su u bitnome utjecali, kako jedni na druge, tako i na nadolazeće generacije koje su sotonizam učinile izrazito živim i aktivnim fenomenom u povijesti religija.

Abstract (english)

The aim of this paper is to analyze the phenomenon of Satanism chronologically to clearly present the various opinions and viewpoints that have emerged on this topic. It is well-known that the Middle Ages were marked by witch trials and the Inquisition, as well as the rise and influence of witchcraft and occultism, which led many to be condemned to death. The content of the paper is focused on a concise presentation of the opinions and specific elements that have changed perceptions of Satan, as well as the notions about Satanists. Special emphasis is placed on the period of change that came with Romanticism and the statements of numerous writers and philosophers who, at that time, advocated beliefs and viewpoints significantly different from those previously accepted. Ultimately, the paper presents the lives and works of well-known authors who significantly influenced each other and future generations, making Satanism a notably vibrant and active phenomenon in the history of religions.
